Aptera solar vehicle hits 4.42 kWh daily generation in testing

Aptera Motors Corp. (NASDAQ: SEV) said its solar electric vehicle generated 4.42 kilowatt-hours of solar energy in a single day during real-world validation testing in Southern California, exceeding the company's internal target of 4 kWh per day.

Based on the company's efficiency design target of 100 watt-hours per mile, Aptera said the result translated to enough solar energy to travel up to 44 miles on that day. The milestone was achieved using a production-intent validation vehicle, the first time the company has recorded the metric under real-world conditions, according to a press release.

"For years, we've said solar can meaningfully contribute to everyday transportation," said Steve Fambro, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Aptera. "These results exceeded our expectations and demonstrate what's possible when solar technology is integrated into a vehicle designed from the ground up for efficiency."

The company said the performance stems from a solar system it designed internally, including compound-curved panel architecture, a proprietary solar charge controller with custom firmware, and a custom power distribution architecture.

Aptera said it has engaged a third-party laboratory to independently validate the solar system's performance, with testing scheduled within the next month. Results will be shared upon completion.

The Carlsbad, California-based company said the milestone advances its vehicle validation program ahead of planned customer deliveries.
