GoPro releases firmware update for MAX2 360 camera with new video features

GoPro, Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) announced a firmware update for its MAX2 360 camera, adding 10-bit color with GP-Log support, increased bitrate recording, and expanded low-light controls.

The update introduces a Maximum Bitrate setting that allows the MAX2 to record at up to 200Mbps in 8K 360 video and 4K single-lens video modes. The higher bitrate is intended to reduce compression artifacts and preserve detail in fast-motion or complex scenes.

10-bit color and GP-Log encoding, previously available in select modes, are now extended to all Time Lapse recording modes, including TimeWarp, Night Effects, Time Lapse, and Night Lapse. GP-Log provides a flatter image profile designed for professional color grading workflows.

Additional changes include an Anti-Flickering Toggle that switches between 60Hz and 50Hz shutter speeds to address artificial lighting flicker across NTSC and PAL regions, and a Blur Reduction feature now extended to single-lens video modes for use in low-light environments.

The firmware update is available through the GoPro Quik app or via the company's website.

GoPro is also offering the MAX2 at a reduced price of $299.99, down from $499.99, for a limited time. An accessories bundle including the camera, an extension pole, two batteries, and a 64GB microSD card is priced at $369.99, reduced from $569.99.
