Moderna outlines mRNA pipeline progress at Science Day event

Moderna, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRNA) provided updates on its research and early development programs at its Science Day event, highlighting advances across multiple drug modalities including T-cell engagers and a new in vivo CAR-T program.

The company said its T-cell engager candidate mRNA-2808, currently in a Phase 1/2 study for multiple myeloma, has shown an early clinical signal that is supporting the advancement of a second T-cell engager, mRNA-2151, into early development for ovarian cancer.

Moderna also introduced mRNA-6007, an in vivo CAR-T candidate designed to deplete B cells for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, with an initial clinical focus on systemic lupus erythematosus. The company said it expects the program to advance to first-in-human trials by the end of 2027.

Among other pipeline highlights, Moderna said it plans to start a Phase 1/2 study this summer for mRNA-4194, a cancer antigen therapy targeting Lynch syndrome, which the company described as its first investigational cancer prevention program.

For its multiple sclerosis candidate mRNA-1195, Moderna said Phase 1 part B data is expected in the second half of 2026, and that a data safety monitoring board has recommended dose escalation in an ongoing Phase 2 study after its sentinel cohort was fully enrolled.

The company currently has four approved products: Spikevax, mRESVIA, mNEXSPIKE, and mCOMBRIAX. Moderna said it is also advancing late-stage pipeline candidates including intismeran autogene and a propionic acidemia therapeutic.

CEO Stéphane Bancel said the company is "applying our mRNA platform expertise to validate, scale and expand our modalities," and noted the use of data, AI, machine learning, and robotics to accelerate drug discovery.
