HOPE Therapeutics begins patient TMS treatments with Zeta navigation

NRx Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: NRXP) announced that its subsidiary, HOPE Therapeutics, has treated its first patients using Zeta Surgical's FDA-cleared Zeta TMS Navigation System at clinics in West Palm Beach and Sarasota, Florida.

The Zeta TMS Navigation System uses Zeta Surgical's RealTrack™ technology to provide real-time, markerless image guidance for transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) procedures. The system applies artificial intelligence and computer vision to register a patient's MRI or CT imaging to their facial anatomy in under two minutes and continuously tracks the TMS coil position relative to a planned brain target with sub-millimetric accuracy.

HOPE is using the system in outpatient TMS workflows for patients with major depressive disorder and other neurological conditions. TMS is a non-invasive therapy used primarily for treatment-resistant depression, which affects approximately one-third of patients with major depressive disorder.

"Treating our first patients with the Zeta TMS Navigation System moves the integrated treatment model we are building at HOPE from concept to clinical reality," said Jonathan Javitt, MD, MPH, Chairman and CEO of NRx Pharmaceuticals and HOPE Therapeutics.

The deployment aligns with NRx's planned SPARC-TMS clinical trial, which is designed to evaluate NRX-101, an oral D-cycloserine/lurasidone combination, alongside robotic-enabled TMS in patients with depression and suicidality. The trial is planned to be conducted across a leading U.S. academic teaching hospital, three HOPE Therapeutics clinics, and two military treatment facilities.

HOPE's broader clinic platform also includes ketamine and Spravato® delivery, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and other neuroplastic therapies across its clinic network, according to the company's press release.
