AstraZeneca (NYSE: AZN) and YMCA of the USA announced a five-year, multimillion-dollar partnership focused on cancer screening, early detection education, and survivorship programs across the United States.
The partnership was announced at the Aspen Ideas: Health conference. In its first two years, the initiative aims to reach 175,000 people across 75 communities nationwide through community-driven cancer awareness programs.
Mohit Manrao, Senior Vice President and Head of US Oncology at AstraZeneca, said: "Cancer screening and early detection rates for many types of cancer remain low, with significant disparities across zip codes. Our partnership with Y-USA can directly reach millions of Americans at scale and at the grassroots level."
Suzanne McCormick, President and CEO of YMCA of the USA, said the partnership would "expand screening, early detection, and survivorship programs to reach more people in the places they live."
According to a 2025 survey by the Prevent Cancer Foundation, 51% of U.S. adults aged 21 and older reported having a routine medical appointment or cancer screening in the past year, a 10% decline from the 2024 survey. The same survey found that 73% of respondents said they were more likely to schedule routine cancer screenings after learning about the benefits of early detection.
The partnership will also build on YMCA of the USA's existing cancer survivorship programs, which the organization has offered for more than 15 years.
