IMU Biosciences and Waters partner on AI immune profiling platform

IMU Biosciences, a London-based biotechnology company, and Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT) have announced a strategic partnership to advance IMU's AI-powered High Definition Immunology platform, according to a press release from the companies.

The partnership combines Waters Biosciences' flow cytometry and single-cell technologies — including BD FACSDiscover Cell Analyzers, BD Rhapsody Instruments, BD Horizon Real Dyes reagents, and BD OMICS-One WTA Next Assay and Protein Panels — with IMU's proprietary AI and machine learning analytics. All Waters products used in the partnership are designated for research use only.

IMU states its platform can generate more than 100 million data points from a single blood sample through high-definition multiomic analysis. The company says it is building what it describes as the world's largest immune dataset, combining patient samples with population-wide clinical data.

The two companies presented data at the annual meeting of the International Society for the Advancement of Cytometry (CYTO 2026), demonstrating immune profiling on the BD FACSDiscover A8 Cell Analyzer using a 58-color spectral panel, along with integration of single-cell multiomics via the BD Rhapsody System.

"Waters Biosciences was the clear partner to help IMU Biosciences scale our HD Immunology platform to the level required for true population-wide immune mapping," said John Baker, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of IMU Biosciences.

Steve Conly, Senior Vice President of Waters Biosciences, said the partnership aims to advance immune profiling into "a standardized, universally accessible clinical tool that can be used across the continuum of care for cancer and other diseases."

The companies intend to pursue additional studies in translational research for biomarker discovery to enable clinical applications in flow cytometry. IMU Biosciences was founded by researchers from the Francis Crick Institute and King's College London and has active programs in stem cell and bone marrow transplantation, solid organ transplantation, and immuno-oncology.
