Comstock Metals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Comstock Inc. (NYSE American: LODE), has selected Cambridge, Ohio, as the site of a new industrial-scale solar panel recycling and logistics facility, according to a press release from the company.
The Ohio operation is expected to create 20 full-time positions and will be housed in a 21,570-square-foot facility with an adjacent laydown yard. The project received a $75,000 grant from JobsOhio, a private nonprofit economic development organization, with support from OhioSE, the JobsOhio regional network partner for southern and southeastern Ohio.
Comstock Metals, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Silver Springs, Nevada, currently operates a recycling facility in Silver Springs where it is scaling to process 100,000 tons of solar panels annually. The company recovers materials including aluminum, copper, silver, and glass from end-of-life solar panels. The Cambridge facility is intended to expand that capacity and reduce long-distance transportation costs, which the company says can represent 30% to 50% of total recycling expenses.
The Cambridge location is expected to produce aluminum, silver, and glass bead outputs for resale into Midwest industrial supply chains.
"Our new Cambridge facility in Ohio is an integral part of our growing national capacity of logistics, storage and recycling of end-of-life solar materials that are decommissioning across the country," said Corrado De Gasperis, Chief Executive Officer of Comstock Inc.
J.P. Nauseef, President and CEO of JobsOhio, cited Cambridge's location and logistics network as factors in the site selection.
