Gates Industrial Corporation plc (NYSE: GTES) announced the expansion of its Belt Drive product portfolio with three new sprocket families targeting bicycle original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across a broader range of price points and applications.
The three new overmolded thermoplastic sprocket families — CRUISE, CRUISE PLUS and COMMUTE — are designed to address distinct OEM specification needs. CRUISE is positioned as a cost-efficient entry point for entry-level bicycles. CRUISE PLUS targets mid-range applications, including everyday eBikes. COMMUTE is engineered for urban eBike use, supporting mid-motor systems up to 75 Nm with an emphasis on weather resistance and durability.
According to a company statement, the new sprocket families are intended to extend belt drive technology to bicycle segments currently served by chain-based drivetrains. The expanded portfolio is available globally.
"The new sprocket families enhance our tiered performance belt portfolio, providing our OEM partners with more options to bring additional belt driven bicycles to their lineups," said Tom Pitstick, President, Americas and Global Mobility at Gates.
Gates, based in Denver, Colorado, manufactures power transmission and fluid power products sold in more than 130 countries.
