Grindr Inc. (NYSE: GRND) announced that its board of directors has appointed Chief Executive Officer George Arison to the additional role of chairman of the board, effective June 23.
J. Michael Gearon, Jr., will continue to serve as lead independent director following the change. The company said the independent directors will continue to lead each of the board's four standing committees.
"The Board has deep trust in George's leadership, including his relentless advocacy for Grindr and its shareholders, ability to foster open and constructive debate, respect for sound corporate governance, and deep connection to our users and employees," said Gearon.
In a separate action, the company's compensation committee granted Arison 2,250,000 restricted stock units on June 19. The grant was issued in accordance with his employment agreement, as amended in November 2025, which extended his compensation arrangements as CEO through October 2030. The issuance had been deferred pending stockholder approval of an increase in shares available under the company's equity incentive plan, which was obtained at Grindr's 2026 annual meeting of stockholders on June 2.
Grindr, based in West Hollywood, California, reported that its revenue has more than doubled since 2022, according to the press release statement. The company has approximately 15 million average monthly active users and operates in 190 countries and territories.
