June 23, 2026 8:31 AM EDT

Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN) announced plans to open an Optics and Photonics Design Center in Dallas, Texas, with the facility scheduled to open before the end of 2026, according to a company press release.

The Dallas center will include optics and photonics lab space, a design and engineering center, research and development capabilities, and manufacturing capacity focused on the company's Neural I/o™ optical interconnect technology and application-specific optical solutions (ASOS) systems.

CEO Michael Murray said the expansion "strengthens our domestic engineering capabilities and accelerates our ability to deliver next-generation Neural I/o™ systems," adding that the facility will allow the company to "rapidly deploy Neural I/o™ and ASOS systems while scaling the design resources needed to meet accelerating demand."

Josh Silverman, Chief Executive Officer of Fabric.AI, a company collaborating with Kopin on Neural I/o™, said the Dallas design center would allow the two companies to "move from design to customer deployment far faster," citing bandwidth and power challenges in AI infrastructure as the focus of their joint work.

Kopin, headquartered in Westborough, Massachusetts, develops microdisplays and optical interconnect devices for defense, enterprise, and consumer markets. The new facility represents an expansion of the company's U.S.-based engineering operations.
