N-able, Inc. (NYSE: NABL) announced the availability of a Shadow AI Visibility feature across its Unified Endpoint Management products, N-central and N-sight, and its Security Operations platform, Adlumin.
The capability is designed to help organizations identify, classify, and monitor AI tool usage across managed environments without requiring additional agents or infrastructure. It covers AI applications, browser extensions, developer tools, command-line interfaces, and AI-related network activity, and links usage data to specific users and devices.
The announcement cited a Gartner survey of 302 cybersecurity leaders conducted between March and May 2025, which found that 69% of organizations suspect or have confirmed that employees are using prohibited public generative AI tools.
"Shadow AI Visibility helps close that gap by providing actionable transparency into AI usage across endpoints and networks," said Nicole Reineke, Chief AI Officer at N-able. "Before organizations can govern AI, they need to understand where it's being used."
The feature organizes detected tools by category, vendor, model family, and approval status, and integrates into existing N-central, N-sight, and Adlumin workflows. N-able said managed service providers can use the capability to offer clients AI governance services, including usage assessments and compliance reporting.
Shadow AI Visibility is available now across all three platforms, according to the company's press release.
