Supermicro launches Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL4 HPC blueprint at ISC 2026

Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI) announced a Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) Blueprint for high-performance computing based on the Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL4 platform, unveiled at ISC 2026 in Hamburg, Germany.

The blueprint covers a scalable unit configuration containing eight liquid-cooled compute racks, each housing 36 Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL4 nodes within a 362 kW envelope. Each scalable unit supports up to 1,152 Nvidia Rubin GPUs and 576 Nvidia Vera CPUs, with a total power draw of 3.2 MW per unit. Supermicro states the design can scale from 3.2 MW to 1 GW to accommodate research clusters of varying sizes.

The cooling infrastructure uses Supermicro's DLC-2 Direct Liquid Cooling technology, which includes three in-row cooling distribution units per scalable unit in a 2+1 redundant configuration, direct-to-chip copper cold plates, and vertically mounted cooling distribution manifolds. The system uses Supermicro's SMC PG25-A coolant.

Networking is provided by Nvidia Quantum-X800 InfiniBand across dedicated switch racks, with fully liquid-cooled options available. Each compute rack includes eight 72 kW power shelves delivering busbar power within the 362 kW rack envelope.

According to the press release, the end-to-end deployment process includes on-site facility surveys, solution integration at Supermicro's global manufacturing facilities, white-glove delivery, and on-site validation. Support options include on-site response times as fast as four hours.

"The institutions that accelerate infrastructure deployment will lead the next generation of breakthroughs," said Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro.

The announcement follows two earlier DCBBS blueprints introduced at Computex, covering the Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 and Nvidia HGX Rubin NVL8 platforms. Configurations based on the Nvidia GB200 NVL4 are also said to be available for immediate deployment.

Supermicro is exhibiting its HPC and AI infrastructure solutions at ISC 2026 in Hall H, B10.
