AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE: AMC) reported its highest U.S. attendance, admissions revenue, and food and beverage revenue of 2026 over the weekend, driven by the opening of Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5, which debuted to a reported $160 million domestic opening weekend.
More than 4.8 million moviegoers attended AMC Theatres locations in the United States and ODEON Cinemas internationally from Thursday through Sunday. AMC said its U.S. food and beverage revenue was its highest during a weekend in more than a year.
Holdover films including Obsession, Backrooms, and Disclosure Day contributed to the weekend's results alongside the Toy Story 5 debut.
Toy Story 5 is the seventh different film in the past three months to record a domestic opening weekend gross above $75 million, joining Project Hail Mary, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Michael, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Backrooms.
Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of AMC Entertainment, said in a statement that results were boosted not by a single film but by a range of titles, including films that had been in theatres for several weeks. "Seeing multiple films across multiple genres perform well at the same time is such an encouraging sign for the theatrical business," Aron said.
AMC operates approximately 855 theatres and 9,640 screens globally. Upcoming releases scheduled for AMC screens include Supergirl on June 26, Minions & Monsters on July 1, Moana on July 10, The Odyssey on July 17, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31.
