FirstEnergy names three senior leaders across operations, safety, and IT

FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) has appointed three senior leaders to roles spanning operations, safety, and technology, according to a company press release.
Chris Beam has been named President of West Virginia/Maryland Operations, overseeing Mon Power and Potomac Edison as well as the company's regulated generation business. Beam joined FirstEnergy in 2025 and previously spent more than three decades at American Electric Power, including serving as President and Chief Operating Officer of Appalachian Power.
Hanneke Counts has been appointed Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety. She joins from Westinghouse Electric Company, where she served as Senior Director of Global Environment, Health and Safety. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Global Health, Safety, Environment and Security at Eastman Chemical Company, leading a team of more than 350 employees across more than 50 sites. Counts holds engineering degrees from Clemson University and is a Certified Safety Professional.
Daniel Puscas has been named Chief Information Officer, taking responsibility for FirstEnergy's enterprise technology, digital platforms, and cybersecurity strategy. He joins from Fortium Partners, where he advised companies on technology strategy. He previously served as a Director at AlixPartners and held senior technology roles at Comerica. Puscas holds an MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy.
Beam reports to Wade Smith, President of FirstEnergy Utilities. Counts reports to Chief Operating Officer Toby Thomas. Puscas reports directly to Board Chair, President, and CEO Brian X. Tierney.
FirstEnergy serves more than 6 million customers across Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Maryland, and New York, and operates approximately 24,000 miles of transmission lines.
