10x Genomics and Cleveland Clinic team up on bladder cancer research

10x Genomics (Nasdaq: TXG) announced a multi-year research collaboration with Cleveland Clinic to study diagnostic applications of single cell and spatial technologies in bladder cancer patients, according to a company press release.
The study will initially examine tumor samples from patients with advanced bladder cancer undergoing treatment with antibody-drug conjugates and immunotherapy, using 10x Genomics' Flex Apex and Xenium platforms, with plans to expand to its recently announced Atera platform. The research aims to identify biomarkers that may predict patient response to treatment.
Researchers plan to integrate single-cell transcriptomic profiling, spatial gene expression and protein measurements to analyze tumor microenvironment composition, immune cell infiltration and expression of therapeutic targets.
Timothy Chan, MD, PhD, Chair of the Department of Cancer Sciences at Cleveland Clinic, said the collaboration "has the potential to shed new light into the mechanisms underlying therapeutic response in a number of major cancer types."
Serge Saxonov, Co-founder and CEO of 10x Genomics, cited the need for biomarkers to guide treatment decisions, stating that the company's platforms "are uniquely suited to uncover them."
The collaboration is expected to produce a multimodal dataset linking single cell and spatial data with clinical outcomes in bladder cancer patients.
