OPORTUN names Sean Rowles as chief risk officer

Oportun Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: OPRT) announced the appointment of Sean Rowles as Chief Risk Officer, effective June 17, 2026. Rowles will succeed Patrick Kirscht, who is stepping down after 18 years at the company.
Rowles brings more than 30 years of experience in global financial services, covering consumer credit, fraud and seller risk, compliance, and collections. He most recently served as Chief Risk Officer and Head of Operations at Imprint. Before that, he spent more than nine years at PayPal in executive risk roles, including Global Chief Credit Officer.
Doug Bland, Chief Executive Officer of Oportun, said, "Sean's deep experience across consumer credit, risk management, and financial services operations in both fintech and traditional banking makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead this function at Oportun."
Rowles said, "Oportun has built a genuinely differentiated platform as a mission-driven lender with a disciplined credit infrastructure and a member base that counts on the Company for access to affordable credit. I look forward to working with Doug and the Oportun team to strengthen risk management, support disciplined growth, and deliver responsible financial products to the communities we serve."
Bland credited Kirscht with helping build the company's credit function over his 18-year tenure, saying his "dedication has been central to our ability to grow responsibly and serve our members."
