HII delivers first REMUS 130 underwater vehicle to a U.S. ally

HII (NYSE: HII) announced the delivery of its first REMUS 130 unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) to an unidentified U.S. ally, according to a company press release dated June 16, 2026.

The REMUS 130 is described as the third generation of the REMUS 100 series and features a two-person-portable design, a maximum operating depth of 100 meters, and up to 10 hours of endurance. The vehicle includes field-swappable batteries and is built on the same technology platform as the REMUS 300 and REMUS 620 models.

The vehicle integrates HII's Odyssey Autonomous Control System, which the company says is currently deployed across REMUS platforms in more than 30 countries. The system supports modular payload interfaces and open-architecture design.

"The delivery of the first REMUS 130 represents an important step in the continued evolution of the REMUS family," said Duane Fotheringham, president of the Unmanned Systems group in HII's Mission Technologies division. "REMUS 130 builds on that legacy with a highly capable, modular platform that delivers greater flexibility, interoperability and value while leveraging common architecture across the REMUS fleet."

Intended applications include mine countermeasures, oceanographic research, infrastructure inspection, search and rescue, and seabed mapping.

HII states it has delivered more than 750 REMUS vehicles worldwide, with systems operated by 14 NATO navies. The company is headquartered in Virginia and employs approximately 44,000 people.
