BAE Systems wins $535M U.S. Army contract for Paladin howitzers

BAE Systems (LON: BA) received a $535 million contract from the U.S. Army to produce additional M109A7 Paladin Self-Propelled Howitzers and M992A3 Ammunition Carriers, according to a company press release dated June 16, 2026.
The M109A7 Paladin is used within the Army's Armored Brigade Combat Team formation. The system is described as capable of delivering fires in under 30 seconds when stationary or within a minute while moving.
"The M109A7 Paladin is a battle-proven platform that delivers what Soldiers need to succeed on today's battlefield," said Dan Furber, Combat Mission Systems vice president of Artillery programs. "With its reliable performance and robust industrial base, the Paladin ensures our troops have the firepower and support they can count on when it matters most."
BAE Systems is headquartered in York, Pa., for this program and produces the M109A7, which the company describes as one of the lighter tracked self-propelled howitzer systems currently in service.
