ZenaTech prepares IQ Quad drone for Blue UAS certification

June 16, 2026 7:32 AM EDT

ZenaTech, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZENA) announced that its U.S.-based subsidiary, ZenaDrone, is preparing to submit an application for Blue UAS certification for its IQ Quad drone, a step the company says would enable procurement by U.S. defense agencies and federal government departments.

The IQ Quad is a quadcopter designed for land surveying and geospatial mapping. It is currently undergoing flight performance testing and payload sensor integration testing, while the company finalizes bill of materials documentation ahead of submitting an application under the Green-to-Blue UAS pathway framework administered by the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Blue UAS certification, conferred by the DoD, establishes National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) compliance and verifies that a manufacturer uses only domestic or cleared suppliers. Certification would allow ZenaDrone to pursue direct procurement by U.S. defense agencies, federal departments, and allied government buyers.

"Preparing the IQ Quad to enter the Blue UAS certification process is an important step in expanding our portfolio of trusted, NDAA-compliant drone solutions for U.S. government and defense agency customers," said CEO Shaun Passley, Ph.D.

ZenaDrone currently has three drone platforms in the multi-month Green-to-Blue UAS evaluation process. The IQ Quad would be an additional platform entering the process. The company stated it believes potential customers could include the Army Corps of Engineers, the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Bureau of Land Management.

The IQ Quad features a modular payload architecture, AI-assisted autonomy, and secure communications. ZenaDrone operates manufacturing facilities in Arizona, Dubai, and Taiwan. The information in this article is based on a company press release.
