Quantum Cyber launches filament manufacturing division for drone production
Quantum Cyber N.V. (NASDAQ: QUCY) announced plans to establish an Advanced Filament Manufacturing Division within its Connecticut defense technology manufacturing complex. The division will produce 3D-printing materials for the company's planned 80-unit 3D printer drone production farm and generate revenue through external sales of patented EMP-hardened composite filament.
The manufacturing operation will run two production lines: standard PETG filament and the company's proprietary Formula A EMP-shielding composite filament. On May 19, 2026, Quantum Cyber filed a non-provisional utility patent application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the electromagnetic pulse shielding composite filament technology.
Formula A combines a PETG polymer matrix with aluminum flake, carbonyl iron powder, carbon black, and milled carbon fiber. The material produces drone enclosures achieving broadband shielding effectiveness of 35 to 55 dB across frequencies from 10 kHz to 10 GHz, according to ASTM D4935 measurements.
The 80-unit 3D printer farm will provide internal demand for both filament types, with the facility designed to house filament manufacturing, drone assembly, and component production operations. The company stated this vertical integration approach aims to control quality, costs, and delivery timelines while reducing dependence on external suppliers.
"We are building the infrastructure to manufacture autonomous defense systems at scale, and the filament division via 3D Printers is how we control one of the most critical input material in the entire production stack," said David Lazar, Chief Executive Officer.
The announcement follows the Trump Administration's Executive Order 14307 establishing American drone dominance priorities and the U.S. Department of Defense FY2027 Budget Request allocation of approximately $55 billion toward drone and autonomous warfare programs.
