Lifezone Metals Limited (NYSE: LZM) stated it will not comment on market speculation regarding specific parties connected to finding a strategic partner for its Kabanga Nickel Project in Tanzania. The company issued the statement in response to a Reuters article and subsequent media and investor inquiries.
The mining company confirmed that negotiations for a potential strategic investment into the Kabanga project continue, led by Standard Chartered Bank, with multiple offers received. The process has attracted interest from various investors, with the company considering all strategic options including a potential asset-level change of control.
Lifezone Metals expects to conclude the strategic partnership process shortly, according to the press release statement. The company's board stated it remains focused on executing its strategy and acting in shareholders' best interests.
The Kabanga Nickel Project is described by the company as one of the world's largest and highest-grade development-ready nickel sulfide deposits. Lifezone Metals applies its Hydromet Technology to extract nickel, copper and cobalt for battery metals markets.
The company also operates a US-based recycling partnership that applies the same technology to recover platinum, palladium and rhodium from spent automotive catalytic converters.
