Costco reports May net sales of $24.01 billion, up 14.5% from year ago

Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ: COST) reported net sales of $24.01 billion for May, representing a 14.5% increase from $20.97 billion in the same period last year, according to a company statement.
The retailer's net sales for the first 39 weeks reached $221.19 billion, up 10.0% from $201.02 billion in the prior year period.
Comparable sales growth varied by region during the four-week period ended May 31, 2026. U.S. operations posted 13.7% growth, while Canada saw 9.2% growth and other international markets increased 9.7%. Total company comparable sales rose 12.5%.
Digital sales showed strong performance with comparable sales growth of 21.1% for the four-week period and 21.6% for the 39-week period.
When excluding impacts from gasoline price changes and foreign exchange fluctuations, comparable sales growth was more modest. U.S. operations grew 8.7% for the four weeks, Canada increased 5.3%, and other international markets rose 6.9%. Total company comparable sales excluding these factors increased 8.0%.
Costco operates 931 warehouses globally, including 639 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 115 in Canada, and locations across Mexico, Japan, the United Kingdom, Korea, Australia, Taiwan, China, Spain, France, Sweden, Iceland, and New Zealand. The company also operates e-commerce sites in multiple countries.
