Enveric Biosciences begins genotoxicity studies for EB-003 drug candidate

Enveric Biosciences (NASDAQ: ENVB) initiated genotoxicity studies for its neuroplastogen candidate EB-003, the company announced. The studies evaluate whether the compound interacts with DNA and causes genetic mutations, which represents a safety requirement for Investigational New Drug submission.

The Good Laboratory Practice studies include a standard battery of tests complying with International Council for Harmonisation S2(R1) guidelines. The testing includes the Bacterial Reverse Mutation Assay/Ames Test and the Micronucleus Assay.

"Initiating these genotoxicity studies marks a significant milestone in the development of EB-003," said Joseph Tucker, CEO of Enveric Biosciences. Tucker referenced an Executive Order signed April 18, 2026, stating it "potentially expediting research for compounds in the psychedelic and neuroplastogen field."

Enveric describes EB-003 as designed to selectively engage both 5-HT2A and 5-HT1B receptors to deliver antidepressant and anxiolytic effects without hallucinogenic properties. The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based biotechnology company focuses on developing neuroplastogenic therapeutics for psychiatric and neurological disorders.

The company stated the preclinical studies are part of its progression toward first-in-human Phase 1 clinical trials. The information comes from a company press release statement.
