Ecopetrol postpones CEO's unpaid leave due to medical absence

Ecopetrol S.A. (NYSE: EC) announced that its Board of Directors authorized the postponement of Chief Executive Officer Ricardo Roa Barragán's unpaid leave due to a medical leave that began May 26, 2026.

The unpaid leave, originally scheduled to start May 28, 2026, for 30 calendar days, will now commence June 27, 2026, following completion of the medical leave and remaining vacation period. The unpaid leave will extend for 30 calendar days from the new start date.

The Board of Directors decided to maintain Juan Carlos Hurtado Parra, First Alternate to the Chief Executive Officer, as acting Chief Executive Officer during this period. The company had previously disclosed the unpaid leave arrangement on April 6, 2026.

The Colombian energy company stated it will continue operations according to its business strategy. Ecopetrol is Colombia's largest company and operates as an integrated energy company across the American continent with more than 19,000 employees.

The company is responsible for more than 60% of Colombia's hydrocarbon production and holds positions in transportation, logistics, refining, petrochemicals, and gas distribution. Internationally, Ecopetrol operates in the United States, Brazil, and Mexico, with drilling and exploration activities in the Permian basin and Gulf of Mexico.
