Investing.com -- U.S. PayPal users can now make purchases at merchants across China using WeChat Pay's QR-code network, Tencent Financial Technology announced on Wednesday.
The service connects Tencent's cross-border payment platform TenPay Global to PayPal World, according to Daniel Hong, vice president at Tencent Financial Technology, in a company social media post.
Tencent plans to expand the service to PayPal users in other markets in phases.
The company is offering temporary fee waivers through 2026 to encourage use of foreign bank cards linked to WeChat Pay.
Tencent will also expand language support and on-the-ground assistance for international users in Shenzhen ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in November.
