Syntholene Energy adds nuclear project veteran HY Lee to advisory board

Syntholene Energy Corp (TSXV: ESAF) (OTCQB: SYNTF) (FSE: 3DD0) announced the appointment of HY Lee to its advisory board and Grant Tanaka as interim corporate secretary, according to a company statement.

Lee previously served as lead executive and contract manager on the $24.4 billion Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant project in the United Arab Emirates while at Korea Electric Power Corporation. The project consists of four APR-1400 nuclear reactors with approximately 5.6 gigawatts of generating capacity, developed by a Korean-led consortium including KEPCO, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, and Hyundai Engineering & Construction. Lee oversaw construction of the reactor units from 2010 onward.

"I am pleased to join Syntholene's Advisory Board at an important stage in the Company's development," Lee stated. "I hope to help accelerate the commercialization of Syntholene's synthetic aviation fuel, and contribute to securing a broad customer base."

Tanaka, who has served as the company's chief financial officer since May 2021, was appointed interim corporate secretary effective May 8. Former corporate secretary Jen Hanson resigned to pursue other business interests.

The company also provided details about an independent technical and economic assessment conducted by Robert Rapier, a chemical engineer, over three months. The assessment examined the company's thermally integrated electrolysis platform, hydrogen and synthetic fuel markets, and risk factors. Syntholene paid Rapier a fixed fee of $6,000 for the work.

Syntholene is developing a hybrid thermal production system for synthetic jet fuel manufacturing and has begun construction of a geothermally-integrated high temperature electrolysis demonstration facility in Husavik, Iceland.
