Alpha Tau Medical Ltd. (NASDAQ: DRTS) reported interim results from its U.S. trial testing Alpha DaRT treatment in patients with recurrent glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer.
The company analyzed results from three patients treated between December 2025 and March 2026 as part of an FDA-requested interim safety analysis. Two patients demonstrated complete response with total disappearance of enhancing tumor lesions according to MRI scans, while the third patient showed stable disease with a 30% decrease in tumor dimension.
The trial recorded one associated grade 3 serious adverse event - seizure with temporary paralysis - which resolved following steroid treatment. No patients experienced local or distant recurrence as of the May 3, 2026 cutoff date.
The REGAIN study is being conducted at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and is designed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of Alpha DaRT for recurrent glioblastoma treatment. The trial expects to enroll up to 10 patients with recurrent glioblastoma not suitable for surgical removal who have previously received central nervous system radiation.
"These results confirm that we are on target with pursuing our core strategy of offering new treatment possibilities to those who need it most," said Uzi Sofer, CEO of Alpha Tau, according to the company's statement.
Alpha DaRT uses radium-224 impregnated sources delivered directly into tumors. The treatment aims to destroy cancer cells through alpha particle radiation while limiting damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
Alpha Tau scheduled a conference call for May 11, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. ET with management and the trial's principal investigator to discuss the results.
