E-Power subsidiary receives patent for silicon-carbon battery materials
E-Power Inc. (NASDAQ: EPOW) announced its subsidiary received a patent for a method to prepare double-layer coated silicon-carbon composite materials for solid-state batteries. The patent, numbered CN2024105182226, covers a preparation method for materials used as anodes in next-generation battery technology.
The patented process involves a double-layer coating technique designed to improve the performance and durability of silicon-carbon composites. These materials serve as critical components in solid-state batteries, which require high energy density anodes.
The company stated the patent establishes a foundation for industrial-scale production of solid-state battery materials in Guizhou Province. E-Power operates through a joint venture that manufactures graphite anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, with a production facility capable of producing 50,000 tons.
"The authorization of this invention patent is not only a validation of our R&D capabilities but also a critical step toward the commercialization of solid-state battery materials," said Haiping Hu, chairman of E-Power.
E-Power provides AI data center microgrid solutions and advanced battery materials. The company's manufacturing facility operates on renewable electricity sources. Hu founded the company and has worked in the graphite anode industry since 1999.
The patent grant was announced in a company press release. E-Power's joint venture focuses on manufacturing and selling graphite anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.
