Planet Labs Germany secured a two-year, seven-figure contract with the Greek government to support the country's National Satellite Space Project, the company announced. The agreement was signed through the European Space Agency on behalf of the Hellenic Ministry of Digital Governance and the Hellenic Space Center.
The contract provides Greek government institutions access to over a decade of PlanetScope imagery, high-resolution tasking capabilities, and Planet's Professional Services team. The satellite data will support land management, agriculture, national disaster planning, and forest and water monitoring initiatives.
"This agreement with Planet provides our scientists and policymakers with an unprecedented baseline of information," said Dimitris Bliziotis, Earth Observation Officer at the Hellenic Space Center. The data will enable the development of downstream services for systematic monitoring of forests, agricultural lands, and water resources.
The National Satellite Space Project aims to strengthen Greece's national capabilities in satellite technologies and foster economic development. The initiative is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund Greece 2.0, part of the European Union's digital and green transition efforts.
Planet Labs Germany operates from the company's European headquarters in Berlin. The parent company, Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL), is based in San Francisco and operates what it describes as the largest Earth observation fleet of imaging satellites.
The agreement builds on Planet's existing collaboration with the European Space Agency through the Third Party Mission programme. Data acquired under this contract is expected to contribute to the TPM ecosystem for use by authorized users.
