Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) conducted its first AI Fight Club event, a testing environment for artificial intelligence systems designed for national security applications. The company hosted the event at its Center for Innovation facility in Virginia.
The event involved teams from Ansys Government Initiatives and ATG testing AI agents in simulated aerial combat scenarios. Participants conducted virtual 4 versus 4 mission scenarios using fourth-generation aircraft simulations.
The Lockheed Martin AI Center and Skunk Works division collaborated with the external companies to evaluate how AI agents perform missions while minimizing losses. The testing focused on head-to-head contests between AI systems in synthetic environments.
"The agents demonstrated exceptional potential in meeting the rigorous standards of the Department of War," said Irene Helley, vice president of applied AI at Lockheed Martin.
Lockheed Martin announced the AI Fight Club initiative in June 2025 as a testing ground for AI systems across air, land, sea and space domains. The program aims to accelerate development of AI technologies for defense applications.
Mike Pedaci, Vice President and General Manager of Ansys Government Initiatives, said the exercise demonstrated combining simulation with AI-driven analysis to explore scenarios and validate operational plans before deployment.
The information is based on a company press release.
