Blend launches AI agent server for lending platform

May 4, 2026 8:05 AM EDT

Blend Labs, Inc. (NYSE: BLND) announced the launch of Autopilot MCP, a server that provides AI agents with programmatic access to its digital lending platform. The server is built on Model Context Protocol, an open standard for AI agent connectivity introduced by Anthropic in 2024.

The system allows lenders and partners to build custom AI agents that can operate across Blend's origination platform without requiring separate integrations for each system. According to the company, mortgage lending typically involves dozens of systems including credit bureaus, pricing engines, underwriting platforms, and compliance tools.

Autopilot MCP enables AI agents to execute lending workflows such as pulling credit, checking pricing, and verifying compliance. The system operates using each lender's specific data, guidelines, and loan workflows within the Blend platform. Lenders can apply institution-specific rules for portfolio products, home equity lines of credit, or proprietary overlays.

The platform includes access controls with audit trails for all agent actions. Access is managed at the lender level with isolated credentials per deployment. Operations such as rate locks, credit pulls, and disclosure delivery require lender approval before activation.

"Until now, the hardest problem in lending AI wasn't the intelligence of the models," said Nima Ghamsari, Co-founder and Head of Blend. "It was getting them connected to the right systems, with the right controls, in a way a bank's compliance team could actually approve."

The server automatically provides access to new Blend capabilities without requiring upgrade cycles or implementation projects. Financial institutions using the system can build AI agents tailored to their workflows and borrower experiences while utilizing existing infrastructure.

Blend provides digital origination platforms for banks, credit unions, and mortgage lenders. The information is based on a company press release.
