Klarna (NYSE: KLAR) reported its in-app resell feature grew 75% over 13 months as consumers increasingly use resale to generate income from owned items, according to company data released Tuesday.
The digital payments provider said users earn an estimated $137 per sold item through the feature, which allows listing items directly from purchase history via marketplaces including eBay, Poshmark and Tradera. The feature launched in Sweden in 2022 and now operates across 15 markets.
Returning users account for 38% of all listing activity, indicating repeat usage patterns. Users aged 26-35 represent 30% of resell activity, making them the most active demographic group.
Popular items include Adidas Samba shoes, Nike Dunk Low sneakers, iPhones and AirPods. Clothing and shoes comprise 43% of all resell activity, with electronics, bags and accessories following. Four out of five transactions fall within budget or mid-range price categories.
"Listing an item for resale through Klarna takes only a couple of minutes, and on average, our users make back an estimated $137 per sold item," said Louisa Garcia Moreno, Sustainability Communications Lead at Klarna.
The company also offers pre-owned alternatives alongside new items during purchase and integrates sustainability ratings from Good On You, which evaluates fashion and beauty brands across environmental and social metrics.
Klarna operates with over 118 million global active users and processes 3.4 million daily transactions. The platform serves one million retailers including Uber, H&M, Sephora and Nike.
The data covers Klarna's internal resell feature activity between August 2024 and November 2025 across all active markets and integrated resale platforms, according to the company statement.
