Investing.com -- Uber agreed on Friday to purchase an additional 4.5% stake in German food delivery firm Delivery Hero from Prosus for approximately 270 million euros ($318 million).
Uber will pay 20 euros per share for the stake, Prosus said. The price represents a 22% premium to Delivery Hero's one-month average share price, though it falls below the company's Thursday closing price after the stock rallied 7%.
Prosus is selling the shares as part of regulatory requirements tied to its proposed 4.1 billion euro acquisition of Just Eat Takeaway.com, which was announced last year. The European Commission said it would approve the Just Eat deal only if Prosus significantly reduced its shareholding in Delivery Hero.
Following the transaction, Prosus will own approximately 21% of Delivery Hero, down from around 27% when the Just Eat Takeaway.com deal was announced.
Prosus said it remains committed to selling the required portion of its Delivery Hero stake within the timeframe mandated by regulators.
Uber first invested in Delivery Hero in 2024, purchasing $300 million of newly-issued shares.
