Skild AI announced it has acquired the robotics automation business of Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA). The transaction includes cash consideration to Zebra and an equity stake for the company in Skild AI.
The deal allows Zebra to focus on supply chain workflow acceleration and investments in RFID, machine vision, and artificial intelligence for frontline operations, according to a company statement.
Skild AI develops robot intelligence technology through its Skild Brain system, which the company says can control various robot types without requiring prior knowledge of specific robot designs. The startup operates in the physical AI sector.
The acquisition will enable Skild AI to expand deployment of robotics automation solutions alongside its Skild Brain technology. The company plans to utilize Zebra's Symmetry Fulfillment orchestration platform, which coordinates tasks between robots and frontline workers using Zebra wearable devices.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed in the announcement.
