American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (NYSE: AEO) announced the launch of its summer campaign titled "Syd for Short: American Eagle Jean Shorts," featuring actress Sydney Sweeney. The campaign positions jean shorts as a summer wardrobe essential and showcases Sweeney in various casual settings including beach scenes.
The campaign represents an evolution of American Eagle's existing partnership with Sweeney, presenting a more casual dimension of the actress in everyday situations. Jennifer Foyle, President and Executive Creative Director of AE & Aerie, stated that the campaign pairs classic cutoffs with Sweeney's style to make AE denim shorts a seasonal must-have.
American Eagle's summer collection will include over 200 shorts styles and washes for both women and men, with more than 850 new styles planned for the season. The company will feature key items including the Low-Rise Shortie and Super Low-Rise Micro Skort as part of "Syd's Shop," allowing customers to purchase items selected by Sweeney.
The campaign continues American Eagle's charitable partnership with Crisis Text Line, a nonprofit providing mental health support. The company will offer custom denim styles called the "Syd Jean" and "Syd Short," which feature butterfly details honoring domestic violence survivors. American Eagle will donate 100% of the purchase price from these items to Crisis Text Line.
"There's something timeless about a great pair of jean shorts," Sweeney said in the company's announcement. She noted that Crisis Text Line has been part of the partnership from the beginning and expressed satisfaction that purchasers contribute to meaningful support for people in need.
The information comes from a press release issued by American Eagle Outfitters Inc.
