Horizon Quantum Computing (NASDAQ: HQ) announced a strategic collaboration with Alpine Quantum Technologies to integrate software and hardware for quantum computing applications. The partnership combines Horizon's Triple Alpha development environment with AQT's trapped-ion quantum processors.
The integration allows developers to write, compile, and deploy quantum programs directly onto AQT's processors through cloud access. AQT's trapped-ion systems are designed to provide low error rates and long coherence times for quantum computing operations.
"AQT's trapped ion systems provide low error rates and long coherence times, potentially increasing the scalability and reliability of quantum computing," said Horizon Quantum CEO Dr Joe Fitzsimons. "Through this collaboration, Triple Alpha users will gain access to AQT's processors, expanding their options for cutting-edge hardware designed to solve difficult computational problems."
The collaboration aims to enable developers with varying levels of hardware expertise to access AQT's quantum systems at different levels of abstraction. Both companies plan to work jointly on computational problems and technical developments in quantum computing and software.
"The Triple Alpha software development environment navigates the diversity and complexity of today's quantum stack, providing developers with access at multiple levels of abstraction to deliver both programming freedom and fine-grained precision," said Dr Thomas Monz, CEO of AQT.
Horizon Quantum, founded in 2018 by Dr Joe Fitzsimons, develops hardware-agnostic quantum software infrastructure. The company recently listed on Nasdaq under ticker HQ. AQT, based in Austria, develops trapped-ion quantum computers that can be operated remotely through conventional IT infrastructure.
The partnership represents Horizon's effort to expand the range of hardware architectures supported by its Triple Alpha platform, according to the company's press release.
