Alarm.com (NASDAQ: ALRM) announced enhancements to its Universal Communicator product designed to upgrade phone-line-based legacy alarm systems to its connected platform. The updates include Smart Connector functionality, Verizon LTE support, and updated firmware.
The Universal Communicator allows customers to retain existing panels and sensors while accessing Alarm.com's platform features including remote system control, real-time alerts, and intelligent automation. The product targets customers seeking to modernize security systems without full panel replacement.
The enhanced capabilities extend to Alarm.com for Business customers, enabling organizations to upgrade legacy systems across multiple locations and consolidate alarm activity into a single cloud-based interface. This provides access to tools such as Commercial Video with Business Analytics.
"We continue to invest in making it easier to bridge legacy systems with the advanced capabilities of Alarm.com's unified platform," said Dan Kerzner, President of Platforms Business at Alarm.com. "With these software-driven enhancements, the Universal Communicator delivers a more flexible and efficient upgrade path, helping customers modernize at a fraction of the cost while enabling service providers to expand the reach of connected security."
The company stated that service providers can upgrade existing residential or business systems without replacing panels or sensors, reducing installation time and cost. For multi-location businesses, the system enables management of alarms, video, and access control across all sites from a single dashboard.
Alarm.com-powered systems are professionally installed and monitored across the United States and Canada, as well as select international markets, according to the company's statement.
