Samsara Inc. (NYSE: IOT) announced that International Motors, LLC has joined its Pre-Delivery Installation program, allowing the truck manufacturer to install Samsara devices at its facilities before vehicle delivery.
Under the partnership, International will install Samsara's telematics devices, including vehicle gateways, dash cams, AI multicams, and external cameras, at its Truck Specialty Centers and Custom Bus Center locations. The installations will cover new International trucks and IC Bus school buses for customers across North America.
The program aims to eliminate post-delivery downtime by having vehicles arrive with connectivity technology already installed and activated. International can now order Samsara hardware directly for customers, with software licenses activated upon shipment.
Installation facilities include locations in Escobedo, San Antonio, and Tulsa. The company said organizations like Estes and First Student currently operate more than 200,000 International trucks and IC buses equipped with Samsara products.
"Fleet operators today are looking for every possible edge in efficiency," said Jeff Faulkner, SVP of Operations at Samsara. "Since launching our PDI program less than a year ago, we've already seen a significant volume of pre-installed products."
First Student, which operates nearly 49,000 vehicles, is among the customers using both Samsara technology and IC Bus vehicles. The company's CEO John Kenning said the integration allows building "a fully connected, safety-first fleet from day one."
Samsara launched its Pre-Delivery Installation program less than a year ago and continues expanding to additional vehicle manufacturers and installation partners, according to the company's press release.
