Douglas Elliman Real Estate (NYSE: DOUG) announced the appointment of Areeje Akhtar Oriol as Chief of Staff to President and CEO Michael S. Liebowitz. Oriol will work with Liebowitz and senior leadership on strategic initiatives and organizational alignment.
Oriol brings more than 15 years of experience in business development and organizational strategy, with a focus on luxury consumer businesses. Her career has included roles in digital media, global technology companies, and residential real estate.
"Douglas Elliman's corporate transformation has taken hold, and I wanted someone alongside me who understands branding partnerships, the luxury agent and consumer and the infrastructure required to serve them at the highest level," Liebowitz said in a statement.
Oriol previously spent more than six years at Google, advising Fortune 500 brands including Shiseido, L'Oréal, Colgate-Palmolive and Reckitt Benckiser on consumer strategy and brand development. She later joined Compass, where she led growth and market development for the Florida region during the company's expansion period.
Most recently, Oriol founded Assemblage, a consulting practice advising brokerage firms on growth strategy and platform development. Through this practice, she served as fractional Head of Growth at Bespoke Real Estate, which focuses on properties valued at $10 million and above.
The appointment follows several recent additions to Douglas Elliman's leadership team, including Chief Strategy Officer Wendy S. Purvey, Chief Technology Officer Chris Reyes, and Chief Marketing Officer Natalie Passerini, along with various top-producing agents across multiple markets.
Oriol is based in Miami and holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from St. John's University. Douglas Elliman operates as one of the largest residential brokerage companies in the United States with operations across multiple states.
