XTEND receives first U.S. Army safety approval for FPV drone systems

March 30, 2026 8:30 AM EDT

XTEND has become the first U.S. company to receive limited operational assessment approval from the U.S. Army Fuze Safety Board for its high-voltage safety and arming system for FPV attack drones, according to an announcement from JFB Construction Holdings (NASDAQ: JFB).

The approval covers XTEND's safety component that integrates into its software-driven platform for FPV strike systems. The company's high-voltage safety system moves critical safety and arming functions into software, designed to reduce operational complexity while maintaining safety protocols.

"This approval validates both our technology and the market shift toward scalable, lower-cost strike systems," said Aviv Shapira, CEO and Co-Founder of XTEND.

The announcement comes as U.S. defense budgets for tactical strike and defense programs are projected to exceed $100 billion annually. Loitering munitions, launched effects, and related attritable unmanned strike systems received more than $1.5 billion in combined procurement and research funding in 2026.

XTEND's system aims to reduce personnel requirements by eliminating the need for separate payload specialists and streamlining training integration into existing small-UAS curricula. The automated countdown and software-driven arming features are designed to reduce preparation time in operational environments.

The company operates through its proprietary XTEND Operating System (XOS), which enables autonomous mission execution under remote human supervision. XTEND reports having over 10,000 systems deployed in more than 30 countries, with operational validation in five combat zones.

JFB Construction Holdings and XTEND announced a definitive agreement in February for an all-stock business combination. The combined entity is expected to be renamed XTEND AI Robotics and trade under the ticker "XTND" on a U.S. national securities exchange following completion of the transaction.
