United Airlines (NASDAQ: UAL) and the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA announced a tentative agreement that would affect the carrier's 30,000 flight attendants, according to a company statement.
The proposed contract includes immediate wage increases upon ratification and establishes top hourly pay rates reaching $100 by the agreement's end. The deal also incorporates boarding pay, compensation for extended gaps between flights, and signing bonuses totaling $740 million for all flight attendants.
The tentative agreement requires approval from the AFA's Master Executive Council, including all Local Presidents, before proceeding to a ratification vote by flight attendants. If ratified, the contract would remain in effect for five years before becoming amendable.
The negotiations involved both airline and union representatives working with the National Mediation Board to reach the agreement.
United operates from major U.S. hubs in Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. The company trades on NASDAQ under the ticker UAL.
