TD Bank Group (NYSE: TD) issued its sixth sustainable-labeled bond worth CAD $1.5 billion, according to a company statement. The issuance brings TD's total sustainable bond offerings to more than CAD $5 billion since 2014.
The bank's sustainable financing program supports client growth opportunities and aligns with TD's broader sustainability strategy called Protect, Adapt, and Grow. Nicole Vadori, Vice President and Head of Sustainability at TD, said the green bond represents "another important milestone in our work to support our clients as they pursue sustainable growth."
TD Securities, the bank's investment banking arm, participated in the transaction. Susan Thompson, Managing Director and Head of Global Sustainable Finance & Advisory at TD Securities, noted the contribution to Canadian sustainable capital markets.
The bond issuance comes as financial institutions continue to expand their sustainable finance offerings to meet investor demand for environmentally focused investment products. TD began its sustainable bond program in 2014 and has steadily increased its activity in this market segment over the past decade.
