Genco Shipping & Trading Limited (NYSE: GNK) announced it took delivery of the Genco Valkyrie, a 208,000 deadweight ton scrubber-fitted Newcastlemax vessel. The ship represents the second of two vessels the company agreed to acquire in November 2025.
The 2020-built vessel will be deployed in the spot market, according to a company statement. Genco completed delivery of its first vessel from the same acquisition earlier in March.
"The vessel will be deployed in the firm spot market, where it is expected to earn a premium to benchmark indices based on its high specifications and larger size," said John C. Wobensmith, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
The New York-based drybulk shipping company operates a fleet of 45 vessels with an aggregate capacity of approximately 5,044,000 deadweight tons. The fleet has an average age of 12.8 years and consists of Newcastlemax, Capesize, Ultramax and Supramax vessels.
Genco transports commodities including iron ore, coal, grain, steel products, bauxite, cement and nickel ore along worldwide shipping routes. The company describes itself as the largest U.S. headquartered drybulk shipowner focused on global commodity transportation.
