Southern Co. (NYSE: SO) entered into an underwriting agreement on March 16, 2026, for the issuance of $1.3 billion in Series 2026A 6.00% Fixed-to-Fixed Reset Rate Junior Subordinated Notes due April 1, 2058.
The underwriters include Citigroup Global Markets Inc., J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, Mizuho Securities USA LLC, Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC and U.S. Bancorp Investments, Inc., according to the company's statement.
The notes were registered under the Securities Act of 1933 pursuant to the company's shelf registration statement Registration No. 333-277138.
