Seadrill Ltd. (NYSE: SDRL) announced that its board of directors appointed Samir Ali as president and chief executive officer on March 12, 2026, replacing Simon Johnson with immediate effect.
Ali, 40, has served as executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Seadrill since August 2022. Before joining the company, he worked at Diamond Offshore for eight years, most recently as vice president of investor relations and corporate development.
His career includes roles as a debt and equity investment portfolio manager at Bain Capital and as an investment banker at Simmons & Company.
