SciSparc subsidiary files patent application for depression treatment
SciSparc Ltd. (NASDAQ: SPRC) announced that NeuroThera Labs Inc., in which SciSparc holds approximately 75% controlling interest, filed a patent application in Hong Kong for a combination therapy to treat major depressive disorder.
The patent application covers a treatment combining Clearmind Medicine Inc.'s proprietary 5-methoxy-2-aminoindane (MEAI) with Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) sourced by NeuroThera. The filing resulted from an ongoing collaboration between NeuroThera and Clearmind Medicine.
According to the press release, the therapy is designed as a non-hallucinogenic neuroplastogen option for depression treatment. The World Health Organization reports that depression affects more than 332 million people globally.
SciSparc, through its majority-owned subsidiary NeuroThera Labs, operates as a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company developing cannabinoid-based treatments. The company's current drug development programs include SCI-110 for Tourette syndrome and Alzheimer's disease, and SCI-210 for autism spectrum disorder and status epilepticus.
NeuroThera Labs focuses on developing therapeutics for central nervous system disorders through collaborations and innovative combinations.
