Eldorado Gold Corporation (NYSE American: EGO) received operating authorization from Quebec's Ministry of the Environment, the Fight Against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks for its Ormaque deposit at the Lamaque Complex in Val-d'Or, Quebec.
The authorization allows the company to mine and deliver underground ore from Ormaque to the Sigma Mill. The deposit is located within the Lamaque Complex and connects to existing infrastructure through the Triangle-Sigma decline.
Ormaque will provide an additional source of ore to be processed alongside material from the Triangle deposit. The company originally reported the Ormaque discovery in January 2020.
"The Ormaque Operating Authorization demonstrates our ability to advance a discovery efficiently through to operating approval in Quebec," said George Burns, Chief Executive Officer.
In January 2026, Eldorado reported new zones around the Ormaque deposit, including the Ormaque South-East Zone and Ormaque West extension, plus the Garnet Zone. The company plans continued drilling in 2026 to test extensions at Ormaque as part of exploration across the Lamaque-Bourlamaque properties.
Eldorado is studying a potential increase in Sigma Mill throughput from its current capacity of approximately 2,500 tonnes per day toward its permitted capacity of 5,000 tonnes per day.
The Lamaque Complex includes the Triangle, Parallel, and Ormaque deposits, all feeding the Sigma mill. Eldorado operates mining, development and exploration operations in Canada, Greece and Turkey.
