Fastenal Company (NASDAQ: FAST) announced plans to construct a new regional operations and logistics center in Carrollton, Georgia. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for March 24 at 2:30 p.m. ET at the Old Airport Road Development.
The facility is scheduled to open in spring 2027 and will replace Fastenal's current 252,000 square-foot regional distribution center in Atlanta. The new site has space to potentially expand to 900,000 square feet.
The warehouse will incorporate next-generation technologies including improved processing software and enhanced material handling equipment designed to increase storage capacity and accelerate order picking.
"The new site gives us dramatically expanded capacity," said Greg Campbell, senior regional operations manager for Fastenal. "It also offers close proximity to educational institutions, giving us a great pipeline for talent development and recruitment."
Fastenal's southeastern distribution operation began in Atlanta in 1993 with 50,000 square feet of warehouse space and relocated to the current facility in 2003. The operation now employs 300 people and provides distribution and logistics services for branches and customer sites throughout the southeastern United States.
The company plans to expand its workforce over the next five years as it transitions to the larger facility. Fastenal operates approximately 1,600 branch locations across 25 countries with 24,000 employees supplying fasteners, safety products, and industrial supplies.
