VIAVI Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAV) announced the launch of its TestCenter D2 1.6T Appliance designed for testing 1.6 terabit Ethernet networks in artificial intelligence infrastructure deployments.
The appliance targets cloud providers, hyperscalers, and network equipment manufacturers transitioning from 800G to 1.6T deployments for AI backend infrastructure. The product supports validation of performance, scale, and reliability in high-speed Ethernet networks deployed in multi-vendor environments.
The TestCenter D2 1.6T Appliance features traffic generation and analysis capabilities intended to help network managers validate network performance for AI workload emulation. The platform implements multi-rate operations and supports advanced optics and emerging interconnect technologies.
"Current validation technologies are struggling to keep pace with the unprecedented performance and scale requirements of AI and next-generation cloud architectures, which is creating bottlenecks and slowing service rollouts," said Tom Fawcett, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Lab and Production, VIAVI.
The appliance enables users to replicate large-scale AI workloads to test reliability and performance before deployment. VIAVI stated the product received a 4.0 score in the 2026 Lightwave Innovation Reviews.
VIAVI will demonstrate the TestCenter D2 1.6T Appliance at OFC 2026 from March 17-19 in Los Angeles. The company described the shift from 800G to 1.6T deployments as expected to begin this year, with cloud providers transitioning toward larger AI clusters.
