Markel names Phil Jones as international chief information officer

Markel Group Inc. (NYSE: MKL) appointed Phil Jones as Chief Information Officer for its international operations, effective immediately, according to a company statement.
Jones will oversee technology strategy for Markel International, focusing on systems modernization, data capabilities and digital infrastructure across the company's five regional businesses. He will be based in London and report to Carys Lawton-Bryce, Chief Operations Officer at Markel International.
The new CIO brings experience from specialty insurance and financial services sectors. Jones previously served as Global Chief Information Officer at Aspen Insurance, where he led cloud transformation and cybersecurity initiatives. His background also includes technology leadership roles at the UK Ministry of Defence, Prudential UK, Lloyds Banking Group and ATOS Consulting.
"As the evolving risk landscape and competitive market continues to exert pressure on operations, it is critical that our technology is world-class," Lawton-Bryce said in the statement.
Markel Insurance operates as the insurance division within Markel Group, providing specialty insurance products globally. The appointment reflects the company's focus on operational excellence and technology investment across its international markets.
